Fritz Klingler founded FK Engineering Associates in 2012 after about 25 years of experience in civil engineering and underground construction. Fritz continues to manage and grow the firm while leading a number of large underground infrastructure engineering projects. In the last 20 years, Fritz has managed and directed engineering services for heavy underground civil projects with construction value exceeding $500 million.
Fritz is an active member in the engineering community having served on various professional boards including ASCE, MSPE, and the Michigan State University College of Engineering Professional Advisory Board. He has authored numerous technical papers and articles on deep foundations, tunnels, and shafts, and was named “Engineer of the Year” by the Michigan Section of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE).
Fritz graduated from Michigan State University, with B.S. and M.S. Degrees in Civil Engineering, and an emphasis in Geotechnical Engineering.
Joe Alberts joined FK Engineering in 2012 and has more than 30 years of engineering experience focusing on construction engineering, earth retention systems, and geotechnical engineering. Joe manages large infrastructure projects such as the Detroit Windsor Tunnel Inspections and the Northwest Interceptor Emergency Repair where he was the project manager for geotechnical services. He has authored numerous articles on innovations in heavy underground engineering, including “Pipe Jacking Through Hardpan”, and innovative techniques for addressing contract risk.
Joe is an active member of the Society of Mining and Engineers (SME) and was awarded “Engineer of the Year” by ASCE Michigan Section in 2011. He is Pipeline Assessment Certification Program certified and is a FHWA National Certified Tunnel Inspector
Joe graduated from Michigan State University, with B.S. and M.S. Degrees in Civil Engineering, and an emphasis in Geotechnical Engineering.
Zach Carr joined FK Engineering in 2014 and brings over 20 years of experience in underground engineering involving investigations, designs and construction contract administration services. He has worked on numerous premiere underground projects throughout Southeast Michigan including the Gordie Howe International Bridge, Little Caesars Arena, Detroit River Interceptor, and the emergency repair of the 2016 “Fraser Sinkhole” interceptor sewer.
Zach is active in various professional organizations including the Wayne State University (WSU) Civil & Environmental Engineering Advisory Board where he serves as the Geotechnical Chairperson, and the WSU Engineering Alumni Committee, and is a former President of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) – Southeast Michigan Branch.
Zach earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Geology and Civil Engineering, and a Master of Science degree in Civil (Geotechnical) Engineering from Wayne State University.
