As a service to Z-Contractors, FKE provided geotechnical services during the construction of the pre-fabricated Second Avenue over the I-94 Bridge Move project. FKE provided the analysis, design, and field preparation efforts for the main haul road for the bridge move trucks. This effort included analysis of ground bearing pressures, design of geo-grid reinforced roadways, proof rolling, and field undercutting operations. FKE also provided design services for formwork and other project components. This work included field discussions with MDOT personnel, MDOT submittals, and interaction with the design team.

FKE is the prime designer for this 25-foot diameter pre-cast concrete segment lined tunnel in south Detroit. The tunnel will serve as combined sewage connectivity between pumping stations allowing for flow optimization. Our design effort included designing the tunnel segment support system, tunnel vertical and horizonal alignments, secant pile entry and exit temporary earth support systems, final earth support structures, railroad permitting, MDOT permitting, project bidding documents, and construction oversight.
